A local certified guide take you through important changes in pictorial style, take you through the interpretation of masterpieces of the great masters The Palazzo Pubblico di Siena (Siena Town Hall) dates from the 13th century, and was, and remains today, the seat of the Civic Government. The main floor, with its frescos by famous artists, in the Sienese pictorial tradition, has been open to the public since the 1930s. An exhibition occupies 10 rooms and covering works ranging from the 14th to the 19th century, is able to give the visitor an almost complete overview of the evolution of Sienese art.
Our guide will lead you to discover the heart of Sienese Art. You’ll be introduced to the beautiful 19th century frescoes in the first room, dedicated to Italy’s Independence, and you'll discover the medieval ‘World map Room’, with the masterpieces of Simone Martini, la Maestà e il Guidoriccio da Fogliano. Finishing your visit in the Peace Room, where you'll find the famous depiction of Siena, and Allegory of Good and Bad Government, by Ambrogio Lorenzetti.
